Today I chose to post a pen and ink I illustrated a few years back based on the idea of Chivalry and self sacrifice. Depicted in my illustration is a couple reunited after the Knight has rescued his love "Elaine" from the hands of a ruthless attacker. This leads me to opine how , particularly for us artist, ideas of selflessness, bravery, sacrifice, wholesomeness , love and above all, truth, should be consistently portrayed for all to see. The world today seems to scoff at the God-given roles of manhood and the femininity of women which are wonderful traits to be cherished in order to build up our society. That said, it should be noted that the gifts of true loyalty, strength, honesty , freedom and ever other good characteristic to be named have all originated from one individual as can be seen in Colossians 1:13 : "...who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son : in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins..." That person, that "Son", is of course, as one reads the entire chapter, The Lord Jesus Christ. So, here is to the standard that art should uphold- the very same standard that God held when he spoke all things into existence... "and behold, it was very good." ( from Genesis 1:31) For a broader look at my work and what I can do, please check out my site at www.workhorseart.com Pet portraits along with the humans that belong to those pets continue to be popular . This football season, I have produced some custom art for individuals favoring their specific players and teams. On display in today's blog are the Miami Dolphins , New England Patriots and the Georgia Bulldogs.
As always ,I start by hand sketching and inking the imagery but on these three pieces I used three different coloring methods: water color wash and ink for the Patriots ,Corel draw color for the Dolphin's pic. and acrylic hand painting for the Bulldog's Herschel. In the end, all thee clients were pleased. My pricing for custom art is affordable and the final product is an original and/or printed copy with digital copies should you decide to have the art printed elsewhere. Contact me today for custom artwork for your favorite football fan. What is the single most important thing for kids ( and adults for that matter) to learn about in this world today? I argue the need for them to learn about Jesus, the very one who created and cares for their lives. Jesus promises salvation and forgiveness for ALL who come to Him in simple childlike Faith! My latest artwork opportunity to work with 4th graders ,along side a very good trio of teachers, allowed us to center on the fact that Jesus IS our Great High Priest who not only longs to save all who come to Him, but He, in addition, "lives to intercede for them". This is GREAT news because this world is brutal and Satan, the accuser, always stands ready to slander and destroy lives -especially of those who have come to Christ. Revelation speaks of Satan as the accuser and in Zechariah 3, Satan is seen accusing Joshua before the Lord Himself but who is it that comes to Joshua's rescue? Answer of course: The Pre-existent, pre-incarnate Christ ( since Jesus has always been)! Kids and adults have the world to gain by learning just who Jesus is as the Savior who will forgive ANY SIN, no matter how wicked and grant salvation to all who approach him with earnest repentance and humility. Jesus actually longs to see people be rescued from the heartache that sin leaves on all of us. He loves kids, adults, people and folks from all walks of life. This artwork I am allowed to do is something I enjoy and my goal is that it point kids and parents to the One who longs to give true joy and peace amidst a very unstable world. He has done that for me and He will for you as well.
Pet sketches continue to be what seems to be on folk's mind and recently I had another opportunity to fulfill such a request for an associate of mine : Mr. Josh McNeill and his two favorite canines. This type of portrait art can be finished in a fairly timely manner as a black and white sketch or full color , pen and ink version. Should you be interested in portraying your favorite pet, all that is needed is a quality photograph ( by text or email). Pricing is affordable and the finished original as well as a jpeg copy for reproduction is yours in the end. As always, I can be reached via my website or email of info@artbygvjones.com

This week in Workhorse Art, I have finished a custom piece I illustrated from a famous photo of Joe Perry as shown in the 1978 Live album, "Live Bootleg". During my high school years and even now, I prefer Aerosmith because of their gritty / double guitar infused sound. While I don't approve of all of their songs subject matter or the history of drug and alcohol abuse, there can be no denying their incredible musical talent and cohesiveness as a band. I also have considered Joe Perry and Brad Whitford as two guitar aficionados who deserved far more recognition than they were given. This piece today was finished by my usual sketch, ink and water color wash process and based on the photo seen to the far margin ( it was originally seen inside the fold of the double live album). My piece is not a perfect reproduction but I put my own touch on this classic pose of Joe with his BC Rich guitar. Custom illustration as well as contract graphic work is what I do. Follow me and my work on Facebook or my website www.workhorseart.com Thanks for viewing. Gerald V Jones |
